How effective is your oral health? If you’re not doing so already, you should be brushing your teeth twice a day. Flossing is also crucial for your oral health care, as it is used to clean between teeth, an area that your toothbrush cannot reach. Speak with our dentist about product recommendations and suggestions to help you decide whether a traditional threaded floss or a water flosser is best for your interdental cleaning needs.
If you choose to use threaded dental floss to help improve your smile, make sure the product is shred-resistant. Typically, single-filament thread is shred resistant and will be able to accomplish the task of flossing between your teeth without tearing or ripping apart. When flossing, always make sure to floss between your teeth for roughly 2 to 3 minutes per session. Be sure to also clean between each and every tooth, including the teeth in the very back of your mouth.
Be sure to use a clean strand of floss for each session, as using the same strand can cause contamination. Similarly, move the floss up and down the sides of each tooth, and never use the same section of floss to clean more than one tooth. Do not force the floss between your teeth, and gently clean using a c-shaped motion so that all sides of a tooth can be reached.
